Good Folks is a feel-good creative community and climate project, bringing together design education with gentle activism.

Our first major studio initiative tackles two issues we identified over a couple of years in the climate space—lack of funding and communication to effectively engage the wider population. Good Folks aims to slowly but surely build a design community and climate grants fund with the general freelance industry, hoping to bring awareness to climate problems, mahi, and ways designers can contribute positively to the state of our world.
The Good Folks brand is unfussy, simple, yet warm and evocative of times spent in nature. The colour palette draws from summer woodlands and coastal sunsets. More important than the visual identity was the tone of voice, chill and friendly, which goes hand in hand with the naming convention—bringing together all kinds of diverse and positive creatives under one umbrella, regardless if they are actively impact-focused.
This is envisioned to be a long term initiative, and has kicked off as a humble Instagram account sharing design projects and tips to draw a general audience. We hope that Good Folks will eventually grow to a prominent digital platform and funder for climate projects in Tamaki Makaurau. Follow us on Instagram here.
